Race day 3

Sunshine, warm weather, blue sky and winds 8-10 knots from SW welcomed sailors to the final day of racing.

All of the scheduled three windward/leeward races were sailed today in beautiful conditions. Racing was tight and we have some podium changes today.

Day 2

Day 2

Today started with cloudy sky but some wind. First W/L race was completed smoothly on S wind about 8-10 knots.

On the second W/L the wind dropped slightly and we saw some dramatics on the ORC 2 start as EST-239 hit two other boats. Luckily the damage was minor and nobody got hurt.

Coastal race is under way and we expect the boats to finish late in the afternoon.

Long Offshore race

The long offshore race was scheduled to start this morning at 09:00. All the 50 boats were on the race course but the wind was missing. After a hot three hour waiting for the wind the race committee was finally able to start the race on 4-6 knots of wind from NNW.

ORC 2 had one general recall but otherwise all the boats got away cleanly. After appr. 5 hours sailing the leading boats are north of Naissaar and nearing the half way.

The wind has changed to West and is lighter out in the sea. The race committee is on stand by and prepared to shorten the race if necessary.

50 boats competing in BOW 2011

We are delighted to see growing interest in Baltic Offshore Week. This year all together 50 yachts registered for the 2011 Baltic Offshore Week in Tallinn. 22 boats from Estonia, 27 from Finland and 1 Latvian boat.
